SEMPORNA: The Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) has appointed 31 community developer leaders for the state to facilitate the needs of farmers.

Its director-general, Datuk Seri Wan Mohamad Zuki Mohamad, said the community developer leaders would act as consultant and facilitator for RISDA and would receive a monthly allowance of RM800.

“Our hope is by appointing locals, the community will feel at home and will give a better service,” he said yesterday.

He said those who were appointed would be reviewed on their performance, and if they were found to be good they would be reappointed again on a yearly basis.

Mohamad Zuki said those appointed must have leadership skills and quality, and should perform well as RISDA’s facilitators.

He said to date, RISDA had appointed 550 community developer leaders in the country with a ratio of one facilitator to 820 smallholders.
