KOTA BAHARU: About 720,000 government pensioners can still contribute towards national development with their experience gained while serving with the government.

Hence, the Malaysian Government Pensioners Foundation (Yayasan Pesara Kerajaan Malaysia) chairman, Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat, urged pensioners to unite and cooperate closely with each other to continue to disseminate ideas and views on matters relating to national development.

“Imagine from the experience, the contribution to the country will be vast, and united we can do many things together,” he told reporters after the the meeting of the Malaysian Government Pensioners Foundation with pensioners in Kelantan, here yesterday.

At the event, a total of 500 government pensioners who lost their houses in last month’s floods were given an aid of RM500 cash and other flood victims were given RM300.

In the meantime, Aseh said the foundation would represent other various pensioners associations and will act as a coordinator between pensioners and the government.

In addition, it would focus on the welfare of pensioners, especially on health matters and education of their children. — Bernama
