SIBU: The five SPDP branches of the Central Region want the owner of a Facebook account named ‘l Love Sibu’ to stop spreading false and slanderous information about party president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Vice president Teo Boon Siew said they would not hesitate in taking legal action against the owner if he or she continued to do so.

“The Bawang Assan, Bukit Assek, Pelawan, Nangka and Dudong branches want the Facebook page owner to immediately stop spreading the false information,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

The Facebook page had accused Tiong of requesting a commission of RM100 per tonne of subsidy rice to be given to members of the Sibu Rice Wholesalers Association. It also alleged that Tiong was not paying attention to the flood situation in Bintulu, judging by his presence in several functions here last weekends.

“The things mentioned are totally untrue because Tiong has never asked for such commission (for the subsidy rice) during the meeting on Saturday (last week).

“The accusation that he did not care about the flood situation in Bintulu was blatantly incorrect because he came to Sibu then at the invitation of several associations, as well as to visit his aged mother,” Teo clarified.

Branch chairmen Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong (SPDP Pelawan), Wong Hua (SPDP Bawang Assan), Teo Nging Poh (SPDP Nangka) and Joseph Lim (SPDP Bukit Assek ) as well as SPDP Wanita Sibu chief Rhoda Ting were among those present at the press conference.
