Boulevard holds CNY extravaganza

KUCHING: Boulevard Shopping Mall Kuching is holding a ‘Chinese New Year Extravaganza 2015’ from now until Feb 17.

In welcoming of the Year of the Goat, the bazaar at Phase 2 of the mall’s New Wing features some 30 booths retailing the festival’s-related items that include sausages, home tupperware, cakes and cookies, popcorn, hampers, bed sheets, brick toys, rice crackers, ceramic pots, home furniture, and ice-cream.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang launched the bazaar Saturday night in the presence of Boulevard Marketing and Events manager Alecia Lam and Boulevard F&M executive Terrance Thian.

More than RM10,000 worth of prizes await lucky customers who spend more than RM50 in a single receipt; prizes include furniture, kitchen utensils, electronic appliances and more.

Shoppers spending more than RM100 can ask for “ang pao” red packets while stock lasts.

Shoppers can also witness activities like Magnum Cares Programme at 10am and a Kenwy Music House Chinese Orchestra at 8pm on Jan 31 (Sat). Also on show will be a Chinese New Year calligraphy festival at 10am and a Face Changing and Traditional Dance Performance at 7.30pm on Feb 1 (Sun).

On Feb 6 (Fri), shoppers will be entertained by a Ching Ying Musical and Dance Troupe at 8pm. They can see an AMC Cooking Competition at 10am; a lion dance at 3pm; and 24 Drum performance at 8pm on Feb 7 (Sat).

Local film ‘Kepong Gangster 2’ will hold their movie promotion on Feb 8 (Sun) at 1pm at the main stage which will also feature performances by the Nan Yan Orchestra at 4pm and 8pm on the same day.

At 8pm on Feb 13 (Fri), Tyng Dance Academy will present a Chinese traditional dance. Another lion dance is on Feb 14 (Sat) 3pm.

Other activities lined up until Chinese New Year include a performance by Sarawak Chin Woo Association on Feb 15 (Sun), a dragon dance and Wushu show at 8pm on Feb 16 (8pm), as well as a Chinese traditional dance by Tyng Dance Academy. A lucky draw session will be held at 7.30pm on Feb 17 (Tues).

A lion dance troop will perform on the first day of the Chinese New Year (Feb 19)

Business hours will be extended to 11pm from Feb 13 to Feb 17.
