MIRI: Four villages in Kubong, Limbang, were reported hit by flash floods yesterday due to heavy downpour since Saturday evening.

They are Sungai Samabat, Kampung Radak, Kampung Tegarai and Rumah Bujang.

Some sections of the Kubong-Limbang road were reported to be under two feet of water.

“We are deploying a Bomba boat, a five-tonne lorry and six Bomba personnel to assist the flood victims there,” Limbang fire and rescue chief, Supt Bonny Martin, told The Borneo Post when contacted yesterday.

However, the flood in Madamit and Batu Danau had subsided on Saturday morning, he added.

But, he continued, the Limbang river overflowed its banks due to incessant rain since Saturday evening and at 12 noon yesterday, flood victims were evacuated from their houses.

Limbang Deputy Resident Selamat Jati, who was in Lawas, when contacted disclosed that all the relevant authorities including Civil Defence Department, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and the police had been informed of the latest situation.

He urged the people in Limbang not to panic and get updates on the flood situation from relevant authorities.

Telecommunication lines in Limbang were also reported to be disrupted due to the weather.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring Temburong in Brunei was also reported to be flooded.

Temburong is located between Lawas and Limbang.
