KUCHING: A total of 24 schools across the state are still closed due to flooding, affecting 3,345 students.
According to state Disaster Management Committee, 16 schools with 1,705 students were also affected by flooding but they were still able to operate.
On evacuation matters, the committee via a press statement yesterday, said three centres – Tedungan Immigration Hall and SK Menuang in Limbang, and SK Tanah Putih in Samarahan Division – had been closed, signifying that the overall flood situation in the state was improving.
It said as as at 4pm yesterday, three evacuation centres were still open – each in Mukah, Bintulu and Limbang – housing 1,005 victims from 296 families.
“We are calling on the public to continue cooperating with relevant authorities.
“They should always be alert of their surroundings and be compliant should they receive orders to evacuate.”
