JULAU: The recent budget revision announced by the prime minister will impact the 1Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council (1MSAC).

1MSAC chairman Datuk Joseph Salang said it was because the corporate sector was less forthcoming with funding in anticipation of possible difficult times.

“Not all allocations for projects under 1MSAC are from the government but some from the corporate sector so when they are less forthcoming with funding, we will be affected,” he told reporters after commissioning a micro hydro project for Rumah Lugum Jenging at Nanga Taba in Ulu Kanowit here yesterday.

Salang who is Julau MP said 1MSAC would trim its projection of how much to spend on projects though we would still do some of our core projects.

The prime minister, he said, had acknowledged that 1MSAC could complete a RM2 million project using only RM350,000 due to participation by the target community.

“But if the target community is not interested in doing the project, we will move it to others,” he said.

Tuai Rumah Lugum thanked Salang and 1MSAC for the micro hydro project which enabled residents of his 16-door longhouse to enjoy 24-hour electricity.

Present at the function were Mas Gading MP Anthony Nogeh, 1MSAC member Datuk Billy Abit Joo and project manager Belayong Jampong.
