SIBU: Abdul Khalik Hasbullah and Masjuwita Mohamad Rejeni were adjudged Best Qari and Qariah at the divisional-level Al-Quran Reciting and Nasyid competitions at Lakis Hall of Sibu An-Nur Mosque here last Saturday night.
Placing second and third in the Qari (Male) category are Nasir Musel and Mohd Zain Hasbullah respectively, while in the Qariah (Female) category, Shanifah Bohan secured second place and Khamsiah Yacob, third.
They were among 12 finalists of Al-Qural reciting competition.
In the Traditional Nasyid category, Putera Al-Haq took home the top prize, followed by PPWS Sibu and Suara Jiran Muda Sentosa 2 at respective second and third place.
On the other hand, Puteri Balqis emerged triumphant in the Modern Nasyid category, leaving Pekdis Sibu and Al-Husna at respective second and third place.
Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapa’ee presented the prizes at the event, which was also attended by Malay community leader Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce Mohammad and Sibu Muslims Welfare Trust Board (Lakis) deputy chairman Hamden Merais.
