Lee presents MRP grants to 13 NGOs

MIRI: Thirteen associations and organisations in Miri here received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant totalling RM56,000 from the Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin last Saturday.

The recipients were Miri Small Industries Association, Miri Youth Activity Centre, Lutong Neighbourhood Committee (RT), Lions Club of Miri Mandarin, Miri Malay Community Leaders Association, Zerostray, SIB Senadin, JCI Miri, IKBN Miri Staff Welfare and Recreation Club, Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) Kampung Lereng Bukit, Curtin Sarawak, Kemas Kampung Tudan Family and Wellbeing Education and Pemadam Miri.

Speaking at the simple cheque presentation ceremony, Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said that the government always encourage non-government organisations (NGOs) to carry out community-based activities.

“I hope the organisations will use the MRP grants to carry out such activities and help the government build a better society,” he said adding that by holding such events they also contribute to the country’s development.
