SIBU: The Star Mega Mall here is playing its part for charity by providing a space to members of Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Association to sell their handicraft items.

Its chief executive officer Lau Yew Chung said the association members would be allowed to trade its goods for free at the mall from Mondays to Fridays.

On Saturday, Lau presented shopping vouchers to 12 members of the body at the mall.

In return, Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Association president Liu Bee Sang gave Lau a certificate of appreciation and souvenir.

Liu said outdoor activities would allow members to connect with society instead of being confined to its home, noting that those who are wheelchair-bound have been having difficulty in accessing places in town.

The president hoped developers of buildings would build disabled-friendly structures such as ramps to enable the wheelchair-bound individuals access these premises easily.
