Badminton Club defeats five other teams to emerge champion

SIBU: Sibu Recreation Badminton Club edged Julau Dayak Badminton Club 2-1 to lift the title in the 1st leg of the Super Series Dayak Badminton Championship held in Kanowit recently.

Joint third-placing were the Kanowit Dayak Badminton Club (KDBC) team B and Bukit Assek Dayak Badminton Club.

A total of six teams from Sibu, Julau, Sarikei and Kanowit took part in the championship organised by KDBC.

The other two teams were KDBC team A and Sarikei Bungai Terung Recreational Club.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, deputy chairperson of Kanowit Badminton Club Pauline Sumbang said the other three legs would be held in Julau, Sarikei and Sibu.

“It aims at fostering unity, besides promoting closer rapport among the badminton players from the Dayak community,” she added.

Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Dagang gave away the prizes sponsored by Syarikat Nam Leong from Kanowit.
