KKM offers certificate courses in interior design, industrial maintenance

MIRI: Kolej Komuniti Miri (KKM) is currently offering two certificate courses, namely, Certificate in Interior Design (CID) and Certificate in Industrial Maintenance (CIM). The intakes are in March, July and November.

The March intake will commence on Feb 25 to March 13 and each course is limited to 30 students.

For the CID, the minimum requirement is that an applicant must be a Malaysian citizen with a pass in SPM/ SPM(V) examination and a credit in any SPM/SPM(V) subject.

The minimum requirement for CIM is Malaysian citizen with a pass in SPM/SPM(V) examination, credit in Mathematics and credit in another SPM/SPM(V) subject.

Speaking at a ceremony to promote the course at the college yesterday, Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin urged qualified youths to apply for the course as it can help them secure a good job in the future.

“Those qualified should grab this opportunity. The fee per semester is only RM200 while the one-time miscellaneous fee is RM160 and RM60 insurance.

“The college also provide financial assistance of RM4,800 for a student who meet the terms and conditions set,” he added.

Lee believes that the two courses are very good and demand for the skills acquired through the two courses are well sought after by the present industry players.

“I hope locals here especially youths who recently completed their SPM take advantage of these courses to improve their potential and become more competitive in the job market,” he added.

Lee handed over a grant of RM15,000 to the college to help it run the courses. He also toured the facilities of the college. Also present was KKM director Safie Abdul Rahman.
