SARIKEI: After all efforts turned futile, paramedics had to call the Fire and Rescue Services Department (Bomba) to cut a steel ring on a patient’s swollen finger.

The patient’s right hand was swollen after he was involved in a self-accident in Tulai area near here around 10.50am yesterday.

As the patient was required to undergo an X-ray, he had to remove all metal objects on his hands but nurses could not slip the ring off his swollen finger.

Since the hospital did not have suitable equipment to cut the steel ring, they turned to Bomba for multi-tasking.

Turning up with a saw, the firemen led by Senior Fire Officer II Haron Jenai took about 15 minutes to do the job.
