SIBU: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be mounting an enforcement operation in view of the forthcoming Chinese New Year, focusing on express and tour buses.

State JPJ enforcement assistant director Albert Clement said yesterday that enforcement officers would be stationed at major bus terminals, namely in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.

“They will inspect tyres, brakes and mechanical conditions of the express buses,” Albert told The Borneo Post yesterday.

He added that they have started checking on express buses at depots and workshops since Feb 5.

Albert revealed that monitoring was also being made by their teams at major airports in the state, to ensure smooth traffic flow at these travel hubs.
