ALOR SETAR: Kedah police arrested three men and a woman for possession of two pistols and 15 bullets in a raid on a house in Taman Desa Seraya here early yesterday.

Kedah CID chief ACP Mohd Nashir Ya said the suspects comprised two Thai men, a local woman and another Thai man holding Permanent Resident (PR) status, aged between 40 and 60.

He said during the 12.10am raid, police found a USA made Beretta, a fake pistol, fifteen .32 caliber bullets, a pair of handcuffs and a taser gun.

“Following further inspection in the house, police also found three fake authority cards allegedly belonging to a Special Officer at the National Security Council, a Senior Intelligent Officer at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla Thailand and a Senior Intelligent Officer of Thai-Malaysia Border Special Investigation Unit.

“We believe the cards were used by the suspects in committing crime. We are still investigating the case,” he told a press conference at the Kedah police contingent here yesterday.

He said the man with the PR status was also found to have been arrested under the Prevention of Crime Act in 2007.

Meanwhile, Kedah Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Mohd Salleh Abdullah yesterday reminded the public to be wary of dubious offers made by certain quarters.

He said this followed the case of a 34-year-old man who was charged in the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court last Monday with 36 counts of cheating villagers in Padang Terap, Sik and Kota Setar in getting non-existent housing construction aid under the E-Kasih programme.

He said between October 2014 and January 2015, a total of 60 police reports were lodged concerning the case involving losses of RM156,680.

“The suspect has created his own application forms and approached the victims by offering housing constuction aid and asking for insurance and deposits for the housing lots,” he said. — Bernama
