Man, wives arrested in drug raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man and his two wives believed to be involved in a drug trafficking syndicate in two separate raids on Monday and Tuesday.

Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee said on Monday at 7.30pm, police raided a condominium here and found marijuana weighing three kilogrammes.

“A 21-year-old woman was detained in the raid,” he told a press conference at the Brickfields police headquarters here, yesterday.

He said upon questioning, the suspect led police to the other suspects believed to be involved in the same syndicate at a house in Taman OUG Parklane, Jalan Klang Lama.

“At about 12.30am on Tuesday, police arrested a male suspect aged 39 years and a 21-year-old woman in a Honda car at the parking area.

“Police seized marijuana weighing one kilogramme in the car,” he said.

Muhammad Azlee said upon investigation, police found that the two female suspects were the wives of the male suspect arrested at Taman OUG Parklane.

Besides the drugs estimated to be worth RM6,000, police also seized cash in Malaysian, Singapore and American currencies, personal items worth about  RM10,000 and several passports.

The three suspects were being remanded for seven days until Feb 17, he said.

“The man has four criminal records involving drugs in Selangor, Melaka and Kedah while both his wives have no previous convictions,” he added. — Bernama
