More Exposure on Islamic Literature Needed

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: In the Islamic aspect, literature is a means of propagating Islamic teachings and to deliver welfare deeds such as welcoming the good and revoking evil. The contents of Islamic Literature offer constructive values in terms of akidah (belief), syariah and noble behaviour. The Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman made the remarks at the Islamic Literature Platform Ceremony (Wadah Sastera Islam) held at the Goldstone Ballroom, Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong yesterday, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

According to the Minister, a literature writer who wishes to progress and succeed needs to always make an effort to improve his writing, besides accepting constructive feedbacks from experienced individuals.

He further said that poems as a means to propagate Islamic teachings have influenced the life of the community in the country, highlighting and gracing functions. ‘Dikir Syarafil Anam’ often fills the air of our country in the run-up to the month of Rabiul Awal every Hijrah year in commemorating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This has become an excellent tradition of our Islamic Art that is rarely found elsewhere.

At this ceremony, the Minister of Religious Affairs launched nine books produced by the Islamic Dakwah Centre.

The ceremony then continued with several recitation of poetry by the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awg Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Former Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Awg Haji Mohamad Zain bin Haji Serudin and the Minister of Religious Affairs.

Prize presentation was held at the end of the ceremony.
