PM, DPM and other leaders offer condolences to family of late Nik Aziz

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who was giving a speech at the 15th Cheras Education Foundation anniversary celebration stopped abruptly for a few moments when notified of former Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s death.

Najib who was informed by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor paused for a few moments before informing those present at the anniversary celebration about the death and offered the ‘Al-Fatihah’ prayers for the PAS spiritual leader.

The Prime Minister also offered his condolences through his Twitter account saying “Innalillahiwainnalilahirajiun. I am saddened by the demise of Tok Guru Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat. May his soul rest in peace, ‘Al-Fatihah’.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also offered his condolences to the family of the late Nik Aziz through his Twitter account.

“Moga roh beliau ditempatkan bsama hamba2Nya yg soleh,” tweeted Muhyiddin.

The former Kelantan Menteri Besar and PAS spiritual leader passed away at his house in Pulau Melaka, Kota Baharu at 9.40pm tonight.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir also expressed his condolences on the death of former Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat through a Short Messaging System (SMS) to his son, Nik Abduh.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in his twitter page stated “Alfatihah. Regards Condolences to the family of Tok Guru Nik Aziz on his passing. May his soul be together with the believers.”

Several ministers, including Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan also conveyed their condolences to the late menteri besar’s loved ones through their respective twitter accounts.

Urban Well–being, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan in his twitter said “May Allah bless the soul of Tok Guru Nik Aziz. Although we had differences of opinion but he was a respected leader.”

Transport Minister and MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said in his condolence message on his twitter post, that the country had lost a well-respected leader.

MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel also posted “my condolence to the family of the former Kelantan MB, Datuk Nik Aziz”. — BERNAMA
