12 teams in State Maksak badminton Championship

BETONG: A total of 12 teams will be vying for top honours in the State Civil Service Recreational and Welfare Club (Maksak) Inter-Division Badminton Championship today.

To be held at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan sports hall, Betong as this year’s host will be fielding two teams in its bid to win championship
trophy.

“The categories for this championship will be the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles
and men’s veteran doubles,” said Betong acting deputy resident Sebi Abang after a briefing at his office yesterday.

He said the championship this year is participated by teams from all the divisions and is expected to be
launched by the assistant state secretary Datu Misnu Taha today.

The championship was slated to be held on Feb 7-8 but due to the flash floods,
it was brought forward to today.

Also present at the briefing was Maksak badminton coordinators Zamahari Eddie and Anthony Ugor Nili, Maksak Sarawak championship referees and managers from all the participating teams.
