KAPIT: Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament Wilson Ugak Kumbong has urged the MSSS (Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sekolah Sarawak) to organise more state-level events in Kapit to exploit the young sport talents, particularly among students from the rural areas.

Through competitive sports, he added, athletes inculcate the competitive spirit to take up challenges seriously to find success in life.

He made these remarks when he officiated at the closing ceremony of the MSSS Inter-division Sepak Takraw Championship at the Bletih Stadium here on Thursday.

Eleven divisions in the state took part in this championship.

Players were also selected from the tournament to represent Sarawak in the national championship to be held in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from March 15-19.

Ugak also announced a RM 10,000 government grant for the MSSS to carry out activities.

Also present at the event were deputy Kapit Education Officer Azaman Hailee, officer in charge of Pengurusan Pembangunan Kemanusiaan officer Kumbong Garit and his assistant, Steward Nyambong, SMK Kapit 2 principal Philip Singkek, MSS Kapit officer Francis Dana, administrative officer Minggu Jampong from the Resident’s Office and community leaders.
