BAKONG: The Youth Movement of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) will study the possibility of providing the community in Menok, Bakong with solar energy.

Its information officer Jaya Ramba disclosed that the solar system would only be installed if the local community collectively agree to the proposal.

“We will be calling for a consultant to look at the centre where the solar system will be set up including looking at an alternative to generate power such as micro-hydro dam,” said Jaya, adding the project is expected to improve the quality and standard of living of the local community.

During his visit, he also disclosed that the youth movement together with Ministry of Youth and Sports would organise community games to foster goodwill, better understanding and unity amongst the people.

“We will have a follow-up meeting with the people soon before embarking on the proposals to ensure that they really benefit the local community,” he said.

According to Jaya, they will also be inviting officers from National Registration Department for birth registration and identity card application and the Election Commission to register voters.
