Monarch Consented to Exchange Letter & Note with David Cameron

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, LONDON: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam today consented to hold a meeting with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, The Right Honourable David Cameron, and for the signing of the exchange of letter and note between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

The function took place at the Chequers Court, Buckinghamshire in London.

Before the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to receive in audience the Secretary of Defence, United Kingdom, the Right Honourable Michael Fallon at the Kensington Palace Gardens in London. During the audience, His Majesty and the Right Honourable Michael Fallon exchanged views to enhance cooperation between the two countries. His Majesty and the Secretary of Defence also discussed current international and regional developments.

His Majesty then consented to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, The Right Honourable David Cameron, at the Chequers Court in Buckinghamshire. His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by The Right Honourable David Cameron.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then consented to move towards the Hautrey Room for a Bilateral Meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. During the Meeting, His Majesty and the Prime Minister of United Kingdom discussed ways to further strengthen existing bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom, and exchanged views on regional and international matters of interest.

After the Meeting, His Majesty consented to proceed to the Great Hall to sign the Exchange of Letter and Note between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the British Government. Signing on behalf of the British Government was The Right Honourable David Cameron.

Before leaving Chequers Court, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to sign the Guest Book.

Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam were Darussalam to United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Also present was the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, and the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awg Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, and the Deputy Minister of Defence; Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.
