SIBU: The recent upgrading of roads and lanes in the vicinity of SM Wong Nai Siong has attracted more students to the school, noted Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh when he visited it yesterday morning.

Though he had helped to get the fund, he said credit must also go to the Public Works Department, Drainage and Irrigation Department, and the Municipal Council for their good work.

Wong, who is also Minister of Local Government and Community Development, was told by SM Wong Nai Siong principal Hii Yew Hiiung that the section of road in front of the school had been raised, while the one behind had been widened.

The drainage system in the area encompassing Ek Dee Road and Ubah Road had also been upgraded.

Hii thanked Wong, the school’s old students association, parents, and board of management for their support in various ways.

“Our next hope is to have a better road access from our school to Wong King Huo Road,” he told the minister.

Old students’ association chairperson Chen Lan Mui was also present.
