Banjarmasin pushed for a success sanitation program

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Representatives of Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Sanitation Nur Fadrina Mourbas states, it continues to push the city of Banjarmasin be successful in the area of environmental sanitation programs nationally, Antaranews reported.

“Banjarmasin is an area that is quite active for community environmental sanitation infrastructure development and we will encourage it to be an area of national environmental sanitation success,” she said in a Workshop on Environmental Sanitation Journalists in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

She revealed, Banjarmasin will continue to get sanitation infrastructure development grant funds from the Australian Government until 2016 and the local government must seriously develop the program.

Besides Jakarta, Banjarmasin is the second area has a waste water company (PD PAL) in Indonesia, and the potential to be developed in the area of environmental sanitation program.

Head of Banjarmasin Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Ir Fajar Desira CES revealed, sanitation program in this area has been running quite advanced, with service coverage of PD PAL approximately five percent of the total area.

He added that the location of the planning for the sanitation program of the Australia-Indonesia grants for the construction of sanitation by 2015 as much as 1.930 house connections.
