MIRI: Sarawakians are called not to gamble the country’s future by supporting the opposition which has been condemning the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said Sarawakians, regardless of their religion and race, should instead rally behind BN which has been promoting peace, harmony and progress in the state.

“It is important for us to preserve the present BN government under the wise Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s leadership that knows the sensitivity of the multi-religious and multi-racial community here,” Dennis said during the closing ceremony and handing over of prizes to winners of Rukun Tetangga (RT) Pujut Utara Family Day held at Pujut 7 yesterday.

Among those present were assistant unity officer Hasri Ali, Penghulu Samat Alip, RT Pujut Utara chairman Ding Lah and Pujut Utara Jiran Wanita chairlady Maria Awang Edris.

According to Dennis, the chief minister has vast experience in politics and has the desire to bring development to all corners of the state. Being visionary and wise, he added, Adenan is determined to bring development to the people to elevate their socio-economic status besides being all out to fight corruption and crime in the state.

Thus, he urged the people to continue supporting the BN government and its leaders, while advising them to bring up their needs and problems to their elected representatives and government agencies so that they can be addressed accordingly.

At the same time, he called on other communities to emulate the Chinese in achieving success.

Earlier in his speech, he said the family day was a platform for the local community to interact and get to know their neighbours and friends.

Through interaction, he added, the people will be able to enhance rapport and foster harmony and unity.
