Local man in court for allegedly beating up wife, son

A local man was ordered to be further remanded by the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday, after the mental assessment of the defendant proved that he is mentally fit to stand trial. The case is adjourned to make way for medical reports on victims of an alleged assault, Brudirect reported.

The defendant, forty-three-year-old Mahdzidi bin Haji Morsidi/Morshidi was first produced in the magistrate’s court on February 17 to face a charge of assaulting his twenty-year-old son by hitting his body with a pair of pliers, slapping his face several times and kicking and hitting his body and legs using feet and hands.

Another charge alleges the defendant of assaulting his wife, 44, by slapping her face several times, squeezing her left little finger with a pair of pliers and rubbing a pair of pliers on her forehead.

The offences allegedly took place at the family home in Jalan Kilugus, STKRJ Kampong Lumapas on February 15.

The defendant had his mental state assessed since the first mention of the case and was yesterday declared mentally fit to stand trial.

Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal Pehin Dato Kefli fixed March 7 for further mention of the case.

DPP Shamshuddin Haji Kamaluddin appeared as the Public Prosecutor in the case.
