MIRI: Miri Hospital Blood Bank is appealing to the public for precious pints since its stock has dwindled rapidly during the festive season.

Blood Bank assistant information officer, Kenneth Numan, told The Borneo Post when contacted yesterday.

“We managed to provide whatever was needed during the festive season, but our stock has dwindled rapidly now.

“So please help us to help the needy by donating your blood,” he appealed to the public.

According to Kenneth, regular donors were informed, through the short messaging system (SMS), of the problem and were urged to donate.

He hoped that regular donors, the public and corporate bodies would respond to the call as soon as possible.

In a related matter, the General Operations Force (GOF) at the 12th Battalion Camp will hold a blood donation drive on Feb 25 (Wednesday) from 8.30am onwards.

A similar drive will be at the Community Hall at Pujut Tanjong Batu on Feb 28 (Saturday) from 9am to 1pm.

“This is open to the public, so please support the campaign,” Kenneth requested.

To a question, Kenneth said Group O blood was much needed at the moment.

Those who wish to donate at the Blood Bank may come during office hours from 8.30am – 12 noon and 2.15pm to 4pm on Mondays to Thursdays and from 8.30am to 11am and 2.30pm to 4pm on Fridays.
