SUPP invites all to CNY, Chap Goh Meh do March 6

KUCHING: The SUPP will hold a Chinese New Year / Chap Goh Meh ‘Bersama Rakyat’ celebrations at the Jubilee Ground here this March 6.

The programme is scheduled to begin at 6.30pm, with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem expected to attend as guest-of-honour.

The working committee for the event is headed by SUPP Central Women’s chief Datin Jennifer Chee and its advisor Amy Tnay.

At a press conference here on Monday, Chee said the event would be open to all.

“We have also invited members of charitable bodies like The Green Ribbon Association, The Salvation Army Children’s Home, Sarawak Hun Nam Siang T’ng and Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.

“There will be 36 ‘lions’ and nine ‘dragons’ coming to perform at the event. We have also lined up several activities including fireworks display, angpow lucky draw, street dance and photograph competition, as well as wushu, silat and Indian martial art demonstrations,” she said.

There will be 10,000 tickets awaiting to be claimed by members of the public.

“These tickets can be used to redeem meals, as well as allow visitors to participate in the lucky draw that offers attractive prizes worth RM36,888,” Chee said, adding that these tickets would be available at all SUPP branches here.
