BUTTERWORTH: PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu said yesterday he would only give a statement, upon request, to the party’s special investigation committee over the claim of a plot to topple PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

When pressed by reporters, Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, declined to elaborate, saying he left the matter fully in the hands of the party.

“I will only give a statement, upon request, to the special investigation committee chaired by the PAS president relating to all accusations against me as this is an internal problem of the party.

“Secondly, on my position in the party, I leave it to the party congress as well as the delegates.

Thirdly, on my action against TV3, Utusan Malaysia and any other media, I leave it to my lawyer,” he told reporters when met during a recess in the hearing of the case of an alleged defamatory remark made by him over the communist terrorist attack on the Bukit Kepong police station, at the Sessions Court here.

On Wednesday, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali was quoted as saying the party had started an investigation into two senior leaders who were allegedly behind a move to topple Abdul Hadi. — Bernama
