KUCHING: Swift action by police led to the arrest of a street robber who had targeted a convenience store cashier while she was walking home alone the previous day.
Acting on a report lodged by the 18-year-old victim, a CID team from district police headquarters tracked the 26-year-old suspect to his house at Kampung Tabuan Tengah yesterday and detained him around 8.30am.
Sources disclosed that police proceeded to conduct a search of the suspect’s bedroom and were able to recover two tablet phones, an ATM card and a Mykad belonging to the victim.
He was subsequently brought to district police headquarters for further investigation and later detained in the lockup pending further action.
The robbery occurred around 1.30am on Wednesday.
when the suspect snatched the victim’s handbag while she was walking home from her workplace. She was assaulted when she put up a struggle. Her snatched bag contained two phones and some personal documents.
