Shah shines for Curtin as Petronas sweeps Miri lanes

MIRI: Shah Nizam Doming made Curtin University Sarawak proud when he emerged champion in the men’s singles of the Miri Inter-Department Invitational bowling championship on Feb 15.

A total of 29 teams representing public and private bodies in Miri and Bintulu participated in the inaugural championship organised by Megalanes East in Bintang Megamall here.

Curtin University Sarawak was represented by Shah Nizam who is an officer in the Human Resources Department, Jameson Malang, Aprilla Johnny Ruping and Vince Untai. Apart from winning the men’s singles prize, Shah Nizam won third place in the men’s doubles with Jameson.

Petronas emerged the overall champion, sweeping most of the prizes in the categories of men’s singles, doubles and trio, women’s singles, doubles and trio.

The Education Department was second and Curtin Sarawak third overall. All winners were awarded cash prizes, trophies and medals.

Curtin Sarawak’s participation in the championship was sponsored by the university’s Sports and Recreation Services Department, which provides a range of sporting and recreational activities for the campus community.
