Association treats members to Chinese New Year dinner

KUCHING: The Hing Ann Association Kuching treated over 1,000 guests, including members and 178 elderly, to a Chinese New Year dinner on Friday.

Held at the Bintawa Hing Ann Tian Hou Gong Temple, among those in attendance were association honorary president and advisor Datuk Sri Tay Thian Song, president Michael Teo, and event organising chairman Lau Soon Yong.

The dinner was also a chance for members to demonstrate filial piety for their family members aged 70 and above.

Those aged 70 to 79 received angpows of RM100 each, while those aged 80 to 89 received RM200 each, and those aged 90 and above were given RM300 each.

Performances for the night included a lion dance and belly dancing. There was also a lucky draw and karaoke session.

Established in 1946, the association currently has around 2,000 members.
