LAHAD DATU: Members of associations, especially in this district, are encouraged to hold activities that can enhance the spirit of patriotism and foster greater solidarity among the people.
Praising the effort of the Lahad Datu Riders Community in organizing ‘Ride To Tanduo’ programme with Silam Umno, Lahad Datu assemblyman Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said this programme was an example of programmes that could increase the spirit of patriotism.
Yusof when met after flagging off the convoy from Singa Point yesterday, said this programme would not only raise awareness about the importance of maintaining national sovereignty, it could also bring messages of peace to the world.
“Through the intrusion incident in Tanduo two years ago, we have learnt the importance of defending security and sovereignty of the country and this should be a lesson to us to remain united and assist the security forces in defending the country.
“This programme could also show love of peace and strengthen integrity among the society,” he said, adding that it could also enhance unity among the people should it be held annually.
Three hundred riders from Sandakan, Semporna, Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu took part in The ‘Ride to Tanduo’.
