MIRI: Nur Syuhada Roestardimon and Jeremiah Udan Bennet respectively won in the Junior and Teen categories of the Miri City Idol Search 2015 held on Saturday in conjunction with the ‘Land of the Hornbills Heritage Week”.
Second and third placing in the Junior Category went to Razid Ismail and Leonard Thian Yu Xiu respectively, while in the Teen Category Sharon Laie Richard Laing came second and third was Nicole Emily Johnny.
Cash prizes of RM300, RM200 and RM100 and trophies for the champion, second and third placings respectively were jointly handed over by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak Miri regional manager Salina Zawawi and the three judges of the singing competition.
The judges were Gading Kenyalang Sdn Bhd managing director Noraini Salleh and artistes under Natz Production, Salamiah Hassan, and Edrie Hashim.
The competition, part of the heritage week activities held in conjunction with Pustaka Negeri Sarawak’s 15th anniversary, was organised in collaboration with Gading Kenyalang Sdn Bhd – a Kuala Lumpur-based company aspiring to contribute to the growth of the local arts and entertainment industry.
Some 30 youths aged 7 to 18 took part in the competition while five in each category entered the final.
The event also featured performances by one of Idola Kecil 6 finalists Alleeya, local recording artiste Clinton Jerome Chua, and a ‘Combat Dance’ by E-zy Fitness and Health.
