SIBU: Members of Chinese Community Leaders Association Sibu Division should capitalise on the body for more networking opportunities and interactions towards becoming more efficient in their duties.

In this respect, association president Temenggong Vincent Lau said in the past, it arranged several activities such as dialogues with government or quasi-government organisations.

“We have been receiving good cooperation and the local community leaders have learned a lot,” he said in his address for the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) at Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry here yesterday.

Lau, who was re-elected as president during the AGM, thanked all members for their cooperation during the elections.

He hoped that community leaders would strive to strengthen links with the folk under their charge.

“A community leader should easily reach his people, listen to them and then, address problems that the people are facing.

“As community leaders, they should also explain government policies so that the people would be more understanding.

“This would foster closer tie between the people and the government,” Lau stated.
