SIBU: The man who went missing on Jan 10 after sending his granddaughter to school was believed to have been found yesterday after skeletal remains were discovered in undergrowth with the cause of death still shrouded in mystery.

Police said bones of a skeleton were found scattered on a hill slope in Pasai Bon at Mile 11 when two brothers on a motorcycle stopped to answer nature’s call.

A stench invariably led the brothers to the grim find of the bones.

Police were informed and from the handphone found in the victim’s pocket, they believe it was the body of the missing man who has been identified as Sariba Ringkai.

The police said Sariba’s wife had confirmed that the handphone belonged to her husband.

Police however said it was too early to confirm any suspicion of foul play as the cause of death.

They have taken the bones of the deceased back to forensics for further investigation.

Also found at the scene were a pair of slippers, two cushions, a handphone and a brick.

After Sariba from Pasir Emas had gone missing on Jan 10, police found his car in Jakar.

The 61-year-old had sent his six-year-old granddaughter and a neighbour’s child to school at 8.30am.

As usual, the man headed for Bukit Aup to jog thereafter.

He then told a worker at Bukit Aup he was going to pick up an Indonesian man.

His wife, Ani Juhep, said she phoned him and was told the same thing. Sariba was never heard of again since.
