Awang Tengah: Brunei keen to enhance, ties with Malaysia

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The close ties between Brunei and Malaysia will be enhanced for mutual benefit.

This would include follow-ups on the many areas of co-operation, including with Sarawak in the areas of power supply, tourism and other economic activities.

Brunei Minister of Industrialisation and Primary Resources Dato Seri Setia Awang Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Bakar said this at a welcoming dinner at Empire Hotel for Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his entourage on Saturday.

The entourage included Assistant Minster of Public Utilities Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, Limbang MP Haji Hasbi Habibollah, Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang and Limbang Resident Maria Hasman.

Awang Tengah’s entourage was also given a warm welcome by Brunei Minister of Home Affairs Dato Paduka Setia Ustaz Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Othman and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Hazair Abdullah, who is also advisor of the Brunei Regatta 2015 that was held in conjunction with Brunei Independence Day.

In his speech, Awang Tengah said Sarawak valued the close ties with Brunei.

Earlier, a meeting between Brunei’s Ministry of Agriculture and Sarawak’s Ministry of Agriculture Modernisation was held at Empire Hotel to discuss possible areas of cooperation.
