RRSS students are SPM top scorers once again

MIRI: Reputedly the only 5 star school in Miri, Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS) once again proved its unique curriculum succeeded in spurring its students to excel in the SPM and Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), Cambridge A-Level.

RRSS chief executive officer Dato Dr Fong Onn Min said 274 Form 5 students comprising 132 Arts and 142 Science sat for SPM last year and achieved magnificent results with only one failure.

Furthermore, 66 students achieved a minimum of 8As, among whom were those who scored 12As – the maximum number of subjects allowed.

The 12As students are Anderson Yii Kai Heng, Chong Jia Yin, Christy Liew Yie Ching and Elssie Sia Rou Yun. They also achieved As in the English 1119 paper, making it a total of 13As.

Students who achieved 10As and above are Rebecca Wong Li Jia, Chang Wen Sing, Nadia Bt Mohd Razif, Rachel Lee Sin Tin, Sharon Jong Jing Wei, Yeo Zing Ying, Yiap Fan Kei, Michelle Ng, Katrina Lam Wei Ting, Chieng Khai Wei, Clarice Wong Sheau Harn, Connie Wong Yu Sze, Goh Jia Yong, Lau Wei Siang, Law Ai Hung, Low Ling Ming, Mary Wong Chen May, Newman Wong Jun Xin, Sia Wei Hung, Sim Hui Yee, Sim Jenq Horng, Timothy Ting Tze Qin and Titus Who Ji Cheng.

“Our unique curriculum is an integrated syllabus comprising of syllabi from government schools, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK,” Dr Fong told The Borneo Post yesterday.

He said the school has achieved excellent results and 100 per cent or near 100 per cent passes in English, English for Science and Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Additional Mathematics, General Mathematics, Science and Art.

Dr Fong added that RRSS, a Chinese Independent School, advocates holistic education and places heavy emphasis on good discipline and moral conduct, co-curriculum achievements and leadership training.
