KUALA LUMPUR: Allianz Malaysia Bhd is aiming for double-digit growth in gross written premium (GWP) for the financial year 2015, said chief executive officer, Zakri Khir.

In 2014, Allianz Malaysia’s two insurance subsidiaries, Allianz General Insurance Co (M) Bhd and Allianz Life, registered GWP of RM2.13 billion and RM1.83 billion respectively.

Speaking to reporters at the launch of the “Malaysian Against Irresponsible Drivers (MyAID)” campaign here yesterday, he said however, the group recognised that this year would be more challenging on the back of a global economic slowdown and implementation of the Good and Services Tax.

“Most people will adopt a ‘wait-and-see’ approach before taking a stance on purchases and investments,” said Zakri.

He said business for Allianz Malaysia got off to a slow start start this year due to the floods in the country, but had started to pick up, and was now back to the fourth quarter level of last year.

Meanwhile, the MyAID campaign is an initiative to help make Malaysian roads safer with a nationwide movement which seeks to mobilise the people to keep a watch on irresponsible drivers.

Allianz Malaysia’s Chief Sales Officer Horst H. Habbig said the campaign is leveraging on
the power of social media and encourages the people to download the MyAID application to their smartphones to capture irresponsible drivers in action. — Bernama
