Siblings among three suspects arrested for drugs

MIRI: Two siblings were among three youths arrested for allegedly possessing and abusing drug during a raid at a house in Lopeng about 9.30am yesterday.

The siblings – brother and sister – in their 20s were arrested with about 9 grams of drugs suspected to be syabu in their possession. The narcotics police found the duo in the living room of the house with the substance.

They were being investigated under Section 39(a) (1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

Meanwhile, another suspect – a male youth – also in his 20s was arrested in one of the rooms of the house. Police found 0.8 gramme of drugs believed to be ketamine with him.

He is being held under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

All three suspects who were then taken to the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department here for urine tests were also found positive of abusing ketamine. They were also being investigated Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for abusing the illegal substance.
