PAKAN: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem yesterday advised SPDP and Parti Tenaga Rakyat (Teras) to ‘anang berbintis’ (to stop quarrelling incessantly) as it could hurt the ruling coalition.

“If we can sit side-by-side like today (yesterday), it will be good for BN unity and strength.

“I hope there is no more ‘berbintis’ between Mawan (Teras president Tan Sri William Mawan) and Tiong (SPDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing) over the matter,” said the chief minister during a leader-meet-the-people gathering here yesterday.

He added that it would not bring any benefit to both parties and the state BN if they continued to quarrel.

On the big welcome for him, Adenan said he hoped it reflected the local community’s support for the BN.

Adenan, however, did not reveal the name of the BN candidate for this area for the 11th state election, which must be called the latest by June next year.

In his speech, Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang suggested that Adenan name the candidate for Meluan, which is currently held by Wong Judat – who quit SPDP to join Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) before the last general election in 2013.

Meanwhile, Social Development Minister Tan Sri William Mawan, who also spoke, said the gathering was attended by a lot of people due to good road connectivity.

He attributed this to BN’s commitment to develop the area, especially Pakan, which was elevated to district status in 2006.

To ensure that more development come their way, Mawan urged the people to continue supporting the BN.
