KOTA KINABALU: Nearly RM1 million in funds which have been raised will be distributed to 1,367 police personnel affected by the recent floods, says Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) director of management, Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

He said the fund was raised through a one-off payroll deduction of PDRM personnel, as well as donations from non-governmental organisations, individuals and police contingents of each state.

“The number of PDRM personnel affected by the floods included 867 from Kelantan, Pahang (316), Terengganu (143), Sabah (21) and Sarawak (20).

“The fund will be distributed based on their losses and upon evaluation,” he told reporters after handing over the fund to PDRM personnel affected by the floods, at the state police contingent headquarters here today.

Present were Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman and his deputy, Datuk Abdul Malik Harun.

Mohamad Fuzi said personnel who sustained losses under RM30,000 would receive RM500, while RM1,500 was given to those whose losses exceeded RM30,000.

At the event, a total of 21 policemen affected by the floods received contributions totaling RM10,500. -Bernama
