Taiwan’s Gintech hopes to start operations in June

KUCHING: Taiwanese firm, Gintech Energy Corp, hopes to have its plant in Samajaya Free Industrial Zone in Sarawak operational by June this year, said its executive director, Dr Pan Wen Whe.

The firm, which is focusing on research and production of high efficiency and quality silicon crystalline cells and modules, announced last November that it will invest RM1 billion over a period of three years.

The firm has said before that it hopes to complete the ramp-up of its facility by 2017.

Gintech is the latest Taiwanese investment in Sarawak which brings the total investment from the country to RM4.3 billion since 2010. — Bernama
