Felda united regain top spot on Super League table

KUALA LUMPUR: Club team, Felda United FC is back at the top of the Super League table after their match against Lions XII ended with a goal-less draw at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium here tonight.

Although The Settlers squad failed to take advantage of playing on their own turf, they still managed to overtake Perak’s position at the top of the table.

Both Felda United and Perak now have eight points, with the former having the lead in goal difference.

Meanwhile, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) continued to perform well on home turf by defeating Sarawak 2-1 in Larkin.

Captain Safiq Rahim emerged as the Southern Tigers’ hero after netting both goals in the 39th and 41st minute, while the only goal of the ‘Bujang Senang’ squad was scored by Billy Memet in the 27th minute.

The game, however, was al little tarnished when Sarawak’s midfielder Ivan Fatic was shown a red card by referee Mohd Amirul Izwan Yaacob in the 90th minute after collecting the second yellow card.

In Shah Alam Stadium, Selangor recorded their first win this season by trouncing the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) 4-1.

The Red Giant team scored their first goal in the 23rd minute through Hazwan Bakri before Afiq Azmi netted the second goal in the 46th minute.

The Cops managed to reduce the goal deficit in the 58th minute through Dramane Traore, but the Red Giant continued to showcase excellent performance when Abdul Hadi Yahya and import striker Guilherme de Paula from Brazil scored two more goals in the 74th and 78th minute.

In Kuantan, Pahang scored a 2-0 victory against Sime Darby FC at the Darul Makmur Stadium.

Pahang’s goals were netted by Zesh Rehman in the 45th minute and R. Gopinanth (55’).

Terengganu, on the other hand, ended their match against Armed Forces (ATM) with a 2-2 draw at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

The Turtle squad’s goals were scored by their Brazilian striker Paulo Rangel in the 33rd minute (penalty shot) and in the 48th minute, while the ATM’s goals were netted by Jerry Palacios in the 58th minute and Christie Jayaselan (76’). — Bernama
