MIRI: Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat said feedback received from the ground suggested that the people in his constituency favoured the BN government due to its proven track record.

Speaking to reporters covering his visit to several villages in Lambir on Saturday, Ripin said the people, as usual, were clamouring for more development and better infrastructure.

“Over the years, most of the villages and longhouses enjoyed various types of development that were implemented by a few agencies,” said Ripin, who was accompanied on his rounds by several Miri City Council (MCC) representatives.

He visited Kampung Usun Apau, Lusut, Taman Tunku Mosque, Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman Muslim cemetery, Kampung Peter Lilin, Kampung Sungai Dalam and accessed the condition of a Bailey bridge in Lusut.

Ripin, who is also a political secretary to the chief minister, said he explained to the people about the government’s plans for their areas during his visits.

“Overall, they (people) are happy with what the government has done for them. But I did remind them that some projects need time to be implemented.”

He added that what was of utmost important now was for the people to continue to rally behind the BN under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

“I told the people not to waste time on the opposition as all these years it was the government that had made their lives better. The opposition is only good at harping on racial sentiments.”
