PUTRAJAYA: Pre-Hospital Services, treatment services to patients before being taken to hospital, will be expanded in terms of the scope and form of presentation, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam.

He said if the Health Ministry’s proposal on Pre-Hospital Services is approved under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP), it could provide high quality health services to the people.

“If approved, this service will have its own unit with all amenities including ambulances, as it is now placed under hospitals’ emergency unit responsibilities,” he told reporters after launching the national-level Medical Assistants Day 2015 here yesterday.

Dr Subramaniam said the ministry also intended to build more Medical Assistant Colleges nationwide under the 11MP to increase the number of medical assistants.

Currently, there are 16,879 medical assistants nationwide. — Bernama
