KUCHING: State-of-the-art futsal facilities and programmes are promised now that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Demak Sports Planet and the Vikings Futsal Sarawak and Borneo Territory last Sunday.

The documents were signed during simple ceremony held at the Demak Sports Planet outlet itself here.

Speaking to The Borneo Post yesterday, Demak Sports Planet CEO Saiful Bahri viewed the move as a game changer for Sarawak as it will enable courses and training programmes sanctioned by the Viking International Futsal Association to be conducted here.

“We expect to have not only quality players and coaches soon, but well-trained and qualified officials who can officiate matches efficiently,” he said

“Officials will be given training based on the Gol Brasil/AFA syllabus. After being given training, they will be Viking International Futsal Association-certified.”

Vikings Futsal Sarawak and Borneo Territory is an affiliate member of the Australia Futsal Association.

Meanwhile, Demak Sports Plant will be organising the second season of the Kuching Futsal League in May.

The sports outlet is also attempting to bring the Australian U-12 and U-18 teams to Sarawak to play against the local teams soon.
