PELAIHARI, South Kalimantan: Bentok villagers in Sambangan Hamlet, RT 4, Sub-district Bati-Bati, Tanah Laut, were startled when the body of a girl was found in a drain on Wednesday (11/3), around 13:00, Antaranews reported.
She was later identified as Roxi (19), a resident of Banjarbaru.
Her body was found by a resident, M Syafrudin (37), while looking for fishing bait among acacia trees nearby. Syafrudin had smelled the foul scent as he walked by the drain and was surprised to see the decomposing corpse.
Kukuh, 47, father of the deceased, said a resident of the village had informed him of the discovery of a young woman’s body. The father went to the scene where he recognised the body to be that of his daughter.
He said his daughter had left the house last Sunday at 22:00 pm, saying she wanted to go to Murjani Field and then to Unlam. It had been three days and his daughter had not returned home.
Bati-Bati police chief AKP Prayitno confirmed the discovery of the body.
