MUKAH: A total of 510 athletes are participating in the 12th MSS Mukah Field and Track Championship at the Daro District Mini Stadium.
The event is organised and hosted by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) TPDPH Normah Daro.
Daro assemblyman Murni Suhaili, who opened the event, said that the purpose of the competition was to comply with Ministry Of Education’s policy in implementing the 1Malaysia 1Sport and to encourage students to be actively involved in sports.
He urged student to unleash their talents at this stage so that they would be selected to go to Sibu to represent Mukah at the MSS Sarawak championship from April 8-11.
Murni also contributed an undisclosed amount of financial assistance for SMK Normah Daro as organiser to lighten their burden in organising such event and to manage the Mukah team.
Daro District Education officer Patrick Phillip Moss revealed that a total of 70 athletes will be selected and hoped that they can win in the various categories that they compete in the aim of going for the higher level competition.
“We have a big objective to produce talented athletes who can compete in the MSS Sarawak championship and the MSSM Track and Field Championship,” he added.
