KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman has insisted that the Malaysian police have been in contact with Doris Jones, the woman allegedly masterminding Sabah and Sarawak’s secession from Malaysia or ‘Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia’ (SSKM).

Jones is said to be behind the controversial social media movement SSKM, which has also seen close to 20 people detained by the police last month in Tuaran and Lahad Datu for their involvement.

A warrant of arrest was issued against her after she failed to turn up at the magistrate’s court in Kota Kinabalu over a sedition charge.

Jones was however quoted in a news portal that she had not heard anything from Interpol or the Malaysian police about the warrant of her arrest.

“She can say anything but we have contacted her,” he said at a gathering with Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim at the Sabah Police Headquarters in Kepayan yesterday.

Jalaluddin added that the Malaysian police were seeking assistance from Interpol to help arrest Jones.

Meanwhile, Noor Rashid said that action would be taken against those caught instigating and causing unrest in the country.

“There is a limit to freedom of speech and if one made comment(s) that can jeopardize the country’s peace and security, then we as law officers have the right to take action,” he said.
